The location of our mill, on the Wild Atlantic Way, provides us with endless inspiration for new products and designs. Located on the North West coast of Ireland, the rugged coastline, untamed heathers and wild seas inspire the colours and textures and designs throughout our collections.

Bill McNutt

1953 | Establishment

Established by Bill McNutt who sought to bring employment to the area. He trained many locals and spread his love of weaving throughout the community. Weaving initially took place on handlooms in a converted community hall and later in a purpose built mill on power looms where we still weave to this day. The original weaving shed is now the location of our shop.

Team

60s, 70s, 80s | Business Growth

Bill grew the business and soon the McNutt name became synonymous with leading fashion designers such as Sybil Connolly and Japanese designer Kenzo.

William McNutt

Early 90s | Change of owner

Bill’s sons took over the running of the mill. His eldest son William McNutt continues to lead the McNutt of Donegal team to this day.

Today | Modern Design

As one of Ireland’s leading woollen mills, with both national and international customers, the mill places a strong focus on sustainability. New collections are created on a regular basis and McNutt of Donegal showcases these annually in interior design and fashion trade shows including the Maison et Object in Paris.
